Where Wix still costs you is performance. The editor's flexibility is bought with a substantial JavaScript runtime that loads on every page regardless of how simple that page is, and third-party apps installed from the marketplace stack on top of it.

Wix will generate a title and description from your page name if you never set them. They are syntactically valid and completely generic, which means your search snippet sells nothing and matches no query you actually want.

Each installed app adds its own scripts sitewide, not just on the page that uses it. A booking widget needed on one page is downloaded and parsed on all of them, and the effect compounds with each app you try and forget to remove.

Wix lets you adjust the mobile view separately. Elements hidden on mobile, text scaled down past legibility, and tap targets crowded together are all easy to introduce without touching the desktop design you have been checking.

Wix does serve responsive images, but an image uploaded at 4000px wide still ships a far larger file than a 1600px hero needs. On a phone that is usually your Largest Contentful Paint.

Wix can leave both a page and its older URL reachable after a rename, and site-search or filtered views can produce near-identical URLs. Without canonicals these compete with each other.
